our senior team

our senior team

We find more and more that our clients want to see the team that will be delivering the programmes.  Their comments indicate the following aspects of all initial engagements as being key to the success of any programme:

  • the suitability of the ALP team member when considering the potential delegate group
  • that a 'salesperson' during handover does not lose vital information from the 'brief' that can/will be taken by our team member during initial consultations

ALP's commitment to you is that:

  • we do not employ sales people - anyone you see will be from our team of trainers and will be best placed to discuss your requirement with you
  • our team member will not have to handover to someone else thus keeping all the vital information fresh and with the person who will eventually deliver the work
  • the team are all fully employed by ALP and not 'associate' trainers.  They each have the very best internal training providing quality and consistency of approach with the material selected for you.

This page is designed to give you a brief biography of ALP's senior team members - with a little bit more information besides!

Duncan S Williams
Managing Director

Before founding Active Learning Partnership Duncan had over 15 years of sales, marketing and general management experience with blue-chip international companies in the computer and printing sectors in both the UK and Switzerland.

Duncan initially moved into training in London with a European organisation that wanted to develop a foothold in the UK marketplace with its behavioural skills programmes.

He has a wealth of experience in management and business development that is the cornerstone of our business.  Furthermore, he is an accomplished keynote speaker and has written several articles.

Unknown facts:

Duncan believes his experience developed from his first foray into the commercial world, selling ice cream on the beach; indeed it is said that he even had a stint as a bingo-caller. This latter point no doubt still helps him when he takes on the annual role of quizmaster in his local village.

Simon Youngs
Director

Simon joined the Thomas Cook Group in 1987 at their Peterborough headquarters.  He spent the following 7 years working through various supervisory and operational middle-management roles within their Financial Services Division.

In 1994 Simon joined the Travellers Cheque Fraud Team investigating the mis-use of company financial products.

In 2000 Simon joined British Car Auctions Europe as National Sales Account Manager with responsibility for major national accounts.  He gained several years experience of managing large, complex business streams with line responsibilities for account management teams across various geographical locations.

Unknown facts:

Simon is a huge music fan and something that is little-known about him is that he started his career in the ‘pop’ business - Simon worked for Corona Soft Drinks..!!

As a father to two beautiful young children, many hobbies have lapsed into low priority.  In his leaner days, Simon played Volleyball for Peterborough in the National Leagues and later, semi-professional Ice Hockey.  A more gentle pursuit is now to watch his three guitars collect dust at home.

Jeremy Spurgeon
Director

Jeremy joined Active Learning Partnership in 1994 having had extensive experience in the banking and insurance profession in several UK locations.  With his background in the three areas of sales, management and training Jeremy had the ideal profile to help move the business forward.

Jeremy uses his skills to great avail across a broad range of commercial sectors and is renowned for his ability in developing long-lasting business relationships with his clients.

Unknown facts:

Jeremy enjoys all things sporting and generally tends to cram as much activity into his weekends as possible which includes: running, playing golf, motorcycling and canoeing down the Nene to his local pub.  Since 2001 Jeremy has worked for Crisis Open Christmas, helping the homeless.

Jeremy has two beautiful daughters, who like most girls, know how to wrap him around their little fingers!

Peter Waycot
Training Manager

Peter started within the hospitality industry and worked his way up into hotel management before moving into specialist recruitment sales in the early nineties.  With a strong sales and management background Peter formed his own recruitment company in 1996 which became recognised as one of the top 20 UK consultancies within its field.

Having always had a keen interest in training and behavioural studies, Peter joined Active Learning Partnership as a Training Manager where he has delivered many bespoke sales and management development programmes for key clients throughout the UK.

Unknown facts:

Peter has a passion for fine food and wine and is very much at home when entertaining friends and family.

Peter’s other loves include music (he has a rather eclectic ipod - mostly 80's to go with the picture..!!), also camping (but certainly not roughing it) and playing golf (rather badly at times).
